Something Special - Batard-Montrachet
This week ive tasted alot of wines +£50, and not having the time of a normal person I can only pick a few to shout about. And this is the first, A bottle of Batard-Montrachet, located within the communes of Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet. Being a wine making village of Grand Cru status, the rules and regs surrounding the ways in which this wine can be made are super tight. Only chardonnay, and only 40 hectares allowed under vine. This means production is SUPER SMALL.

The wine I tasted is that of Gagnard-Delagrange, a truly family owned winery. Quality is high, and this wine is a show stopper. Vintage 2006, this wine showed sublime buttery notes, like mixing sugar and butter to make cake mix. Plenty of acidity (id like to try this wine again in 10 years!) and gentle citrus fruit. Balanced to perfection.

RRP £80.
